We did some dirty Georgia picking and found buried treasures!!!

Categories: Site NewsTags: , , , , Author:

We spent all day today picking through a dusty barn at an estate sale in Columbus, Ga. courtesy of Kelley’s Auctions.  We found so many treasures.

I am especially in love with the antique chippy paint doors and windows we found that will be amazing as wedding ceremony backdrops and for wedding receptions. They were covered in dirt and dust like I have never seen but you could see the potential chippy paint under the grime.

We provided the vintage vases for the cocktail hour and reception tables at an amazing wedding in Winter Park, Florida. The bride and groom were beautiful. The unique venue, Winter Park Farmer’s Market, fit them perfectly. Our vintage treasures added the finishing touches to make the event perfect! Look through this photo album to see the vases we used to line each long table.

Vintage Brooch Bouquet

Categories: Site NewsTags: , , , , , Author:

I made my first vintage brooch bouquet. It was fun and easy to make and the results were very beautiful.

Our daughter and her fiance decided to elope.  I figured it out the week before so I quietly started making a bouquet for her. I used pins from her all her relatives that we had accumulated over the years. The added personal touches helped her feel the love of her family on her special day.

Some of the things I  included: cameos and old pins from her grandmothers, dog tags from her fiance and grandfather, 1920 high school ring from great grandmother, my first wedding ring,  gumby pin from her father, sapper pin (for fiance), dalmation pin (for her baby and gator pin(of course). I filled in the bouquet with beautiful antique buttons.

DYI instructions:

It was easier to make than I thought. I took 20 gauge wire (from jewelery section of craft stores) to attach the pins and make the stalks. I ran the wire through the back of the pins or buttons in two spots then twisted the wire very tightly behind the pin. The twisting of the wire tightly made a good support for the pins and buttons. I continued to twist the wire down the stalk.

I was going to cover each stalk in brown floral tape but as I bunched them together I realized you could not see the stalk because most of it would be under the floral tape on the base of the bouquet. After making all the flower pins, I began to bunch them together. I found it much easier to create the look of a bouquet to wrap a few stems in floral tape exactly how I wanted them and then added more. Each time I added a few more stems, I wrapped them all together with floral tape. I was worried it would make the bouquet stem too bulky but it didn’t. I kept it good and tight.

The results were amazing! While I was sad that I missed her special day, I was glad she had a piece of us with her so she could remember how much we love her!

New Vintage Treasures for our Brides to Rent

Categories: AntiquesTags: , , , , , , , , , , , , Author:

We are so excited about the treasures we have found in the past 2 days!  We found so many things that will be perfect to rent for a wedding photo session, ceremony or reception.  We can’t wait to clean them up and post them online for you all to rent.

Here are some of the treasures we found yesterday and today:

We almost didn’t pick this old candy tin with a box of tins we purchased because it looked to good to be vintage. What our research shows so far is that McAfee Candy Company was in Macon Georgia 1930-1950s. I found one picture online  of a glass jar for this particular candy “Pilot Kisses”  and someone commented that her dad brought them to her during WW2.

If you know anything about these “Pilot Kisses” candy or McAfee Candy Co, please share your information with us, Thanks!

Beautiful colors seemed the be the theme for our finds this week…

We found some amazing suitcases. We thought we had enough but these were in colors we couldn’t resist. Vintage Suitcases make great card holders, plate holders, escort card displays, and many other wedding uses!

This little white iron chair with yellow cushions is perfect for pictures of the bride getting ready for the wedding.  Think how cute a pair of teal shoes would look on that vintage yellow chair..

Bright yellow rotary phone….

Teal vintage electric fan…

Navy blue chippy paint wood tool box…

and an amazing green chippy paint table and chairs set!!

An Amazing Goodwill Find- Vintage Buttons

Categories: Site NewsTags: , , , , Author:

I found an amazing treasure at Goodwill as I was looking for Pyrex.

This ordinary disposable plastic container was on the shelf covered with saran wrap….

Luckily, something caught my eye, because packed into this small container under the saran was a huge collection of vintage buttons.

I didn’t know how beautiful some of the buttons were until I started to sort them…

The colors are all the amazing colors everyone tries to capture for vintage weddings. Warm and rich colors…

I can’t wait to use the vintage buttons to enhance our other treasures. Wouldn’t they look amazing on a wedding centerpiece with milk glass, silver, glass jar, old pictures. I will post some pictures once we incorporate them in our designs.
